This week kicks off our Read 20 program. Reading 20 minutes a day exposes children to a vast quantity of words (1.8 million in each school year, actually!). Plus this exposure makes children more likely to score in a higher percentile on standardized tests. Our goal at Alpine Crest is that every student reads for at least 20 minutes every night. A reading log will be sent home this week with your child for you to initial every time they have read for at least 20 minutes. Class and individual prizes will be awarded at the end of each quarter for those who have read the most.

Also coming home this week is PTA information and membership form. The mission of PTA is to collaborate with schools to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

One of the resources PTA has provided Alpine Crest is a water bottle filling station. Please send your child to school each day with a refillable water bottle as our fountains are currently closed. If you need assistance, please contact the school.

Finally, the district has launched a COVID Guidance Reopening Plan 2.0. This guidance outlines what students and families can expect related to COVID-19 mitigation strategies and can be accessed on the district website at hcde.org and in multiple languages utilizing the translation feature on Google Chrome.

At Alpine Crest Elementary School, we are committed to excellence!
