Hello Families!

My name is Shelly Jackson and I am your new Principal at Alpine Crest Elementary. I am so excited to lead us into the 2023-2024 school year. I know it is going to be a fantastic year!

First let me tell you a little bit about me. I have been in education over 20 years. I started in early childhood education and moved to elementary school. I taught 2^nd and 3^rd grades for 10 years at Spring Creek Elementary. Then, I moved into an administrative role for 2 years directing a before/afterschool program called Eagle Academy. Next, I became the Assistant Principal at Big Ridge Elementary where I had the privilege to serve for 4 years.

With all this being said, education is important to me. I believe in continuous learning and growing leaders. I will strive in creating a student-centered environment that fosters engagement and allows students to achieve success. Within this environment, I want students to feel safe and nurtured. I hope to continue to build on the community involvement Alpine Crest has established over the years. Together, we can make a positive difference for our students, school, and community.

As we move into the new school year, we have some great opportunities for our students that feed into our vision: we are aspiring leaders and learners who are critical thinkers, problem solvers, and exemplify integrity. We have been awarded a Volkswagen e-Lab, which are digital fabrication studios. Students will soon get the opportunity to utilize hands-on activities using a variety of high-tech tools in our e-Lab. Additionally, we are offering a Forest Kindergarten class for those students who have the desire to learn while in an outdoor environment. These students will spend the majority of their day learning Tennessee state standards in their outdoor classroom.

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve and lead Alpine Crest Elementary. I look forward to getting to know you and your family this year.
